Dreamcast System by Sega Review by BigBadBar kummel@erols.com Released 9-9-99 **************************************************************************** Opening Side Remarks: Sega's new machine has been called the hype machine. But is it that amazing? **************************************************************************** Dreamcast contains the most amazing games anyone has ever seen before. From Blue Stinger to Soul Calibur, Dreamcast's got everything. Deep games to quick fun. This system is for you. The worst Dreamcast game is only average, which is damn good compared to PSX and N64, who both have some pretty horrid games (but they also have good games.) People say that Dreamcast is just a Playstation with better graphics. That is 100% bullsh*t! Dreamcast takes gaming to a whole new level, just like NES, Genesis, Playstation did. When N64 launched, everyone thought it was a new generation. It wasn't. It was the same generation. Now Dreamcast does redefine console gaming. You must have noticed that our Dreamcast reviews are waaaay up in the score (Mine and Robby's) It is that we are so amazed about what this machine can do. No, it does not go beyond your wildest dream. Actually, it goes to your wildest dream. These games are so far beyond N64 and PSX's generation, they make them look like old ass games. Now, will Dreamcast make you quit playing N64 and PSX? No, but it can. I mean, I am really looking forward to DK64, but Sonic Adventure could fill that gap easily. (I don't know yet, I haven't played DK64, I'm just guessing) But they are different experiences. They both may be awesome, but if I had to choose one, Sonic Adventure would be my choice. I still play my Genesis, but I know that Mario 64 is a better experience than Sonic 3. Another awesome feature Dreamcast has it is the controller. I've NEVER SEEN A MORE CONFORTABLE CONTROLLER IN 9 YEARS OF GAMING. I've seen it from Master System to Neo Geo, and Dreamcast easily wins. It's curves easily fit in my hands. You almost can't feel that you're holding a controller. When you go back to N64's, it feels damn awkward. Don't even start with PSX's. It's only problem is the lack of buttons. Only 6 buttons? That's not enough. 2 more buttons would make this perfect. The memory card is really great. It can fit a lot of saves! (Depending on the game.) The screen is great. I know there is PocketStation for PSX, but you can't see the screen during play. VMS goes right in the controller and it can show important data (Shenmue), useless facts ( ready 2 rumble) or just a cute thing (sonic Adventure) The Idea of downloading games from the internet is really cool, Although the games are rather limited. Another kick ass thing is that you can connect 2 VMS's together and battle, Mate or whatever. The Rumble Feature is superior. God Bless Nintendo for coming up with rumbling and god bless Sega for making it better. Now, you can feel that PSX's rumbling comes from the middle of the controller, N64's from the back. Dreamcast's rumbling can be felt all over the controller, although you know where it comes from, it expands a lot better than other ones ( In my opinion.) **************************************************************************** Pathetic Arguments (PA) and Answers (A) why people don't buy Dreamcast. (PA) " It's from Sega." (A) Exactly. (PA) " I've been ripped off by Sega already." (A) I don't know how that feels (Master System was a huge success back in Brazil and here it wasn't because Nintendo Cheated. Yes, fanboy. What Nintendo did was a dirty trick.) and Genesis was a success. I've never bought a Saturn, but Saturn did have a share of awesome games, like Grandia, Shinning Force 3, Virtua series. (PA) "I'm waiting for PSX2 (A) Are you really going to wait over an year to pay 370 bucks for a videogame that only has 2 control ports, doesn't have a modem and it's games don't look all that great? (Compared with Dreamcast. Gran Turismo 2000 doesn't look as good as Metropolis does.) What are you going to do while you wait? Play your old PSX games? (PA) "I'm waiting for Dolphin. " (A) Well, get ready to wait 2 years for a system that we haven't seen sh*t about it, only Nintendo say that it is going to rock. We need the damn facts! I'm not waiting for a system that may not even exist. The thing doesn't even have a name!!! (PA) "It's too expensive" (A) How much have you paid for your N64/PSX when it launched? The same price! And the games are 10 dollars cheaper than N64's. (PA) "There is like no games for it." (A) well, considering it's been only one month since the systems launch (From time of writing), I think 20 games is a fair share of gaming. (PA) "Sega Sucks." (A) Sure it does... *whisper to the next guy* call the hospital. We have a retard here. (PA) "That was rude" (A) I know **************************************************************************** Final Score: 100% **************************************************************************** Where to get it: Ebay.com has them for a really nice price but you can also find them in places where you exchange currency for products. These places are called "STORES."
