South Park: Chef's Luv Shack Game by Acclaim Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: None Released: 1999 Works with: N/A **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I finally broke down and purchased enough controllers for 4 players to play on my Dreamcast. I then needed some 4 player games. I already owned NFL 2K and NBA 2K, but I needed something else. I ended up purchasing this game and Pen Pen TriIcelon. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: SP: Chef's Luv Shack is a amalgamation of You Don't Know Jack and Mario Party. If you liked those games, then you will love this one. The trivia questions are nicely written and don't repeat very often. The mini-games are a blast and are easy enough that anyone can play them. The actual game play goes like this. There are anywhere from 2-8 rounds of gameplay(your choice). Each round has 3 questions and then a mini-game. This does vary, though. There are also Double Downs(Daily Doubles) and Pressure Rounds where if you answer 7 questions in 20 seconds Cartman receives an anal probe. If you like South Park in the least, then you will get a kick out of all of the characters and their actions in this game. The single player game is boring, but with a group this game kicks ass! Liked: This is the best 4-player game on the Dreamcast. Hated: I wish that you could practice mini-games like you could on Mario Party. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: This game looks great. Everything looks exactly like it does on the show. The mini-games look exactly like the show, as well. The game runs smoothly and there are no complaints. Liked: Looks just like the show. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: This game sounds great. Isaac Hayes returns as the voice of Chef and he reads all of the questions and has a lot of other dialogue that is as funny as it is on the show. There is also an intro song that is really cool. The other voices sound exactly like they do on the show, as well. Liked: Great sound. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The controls are perfect. The mini-games have very simple, but very responsive controls. The other in-game controls are very easy, as well. The game design is great. Liked: Perfect controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: Maybe the sequel will contain some sort of internet play. RIYL: Mario Party(N64), You Don't Know Jack(PC), Twisted: The Game Show(3DO) **************************************************************************** Final Words: This is a great game for 2-4 players, but it is a weak game if you are a solitary player. If you are a solitary player, don't buy this game until you get some friends. Then invite them over for one of the best multi-player experiences ever. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 24 out of 25 Final Score: 96 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
