Opening Remarks: I really wanted to see this film, but I truthfully didn't really know what it was about.

Movie Quality: The Matrix is a rather strange, but cool film. I won't ruin the plot of the film for you, so you'll have to watch the film to find out what the Matrix is. This film has a really cool look and has tons of style to match. It's fun and has quite a bit of action. The action sequences are extremely cool and the special fx are awesome. Be warned, though, you don't really find out what the movie is about until about an hour into it.

Video Quality: This disc looks fantastic. The video is presented in all of it's Widescreen glory. The video is crisp and clear. The colors are excellent and it all just looks great.

Sound Quality: This disc sounds extremely good. This is one of the best sounding discs that I own. The music sounds really good and doesn't trample on the dialogue, too much. One really cool thing is that one of the audio commentaries is recorded in Surround Sound. There are 3 people talking with one person on the left speaker, one on the right, and one on the center speaker.

Extras: This disc has quite a few extras on it. There are 2 audio commentaries. One has Carrie-Anne Moss, Editor Zach Staenberg, and Special Fx Supervisor John Gaeta and the other is an Isolated Score/Commentary Track with Composer Don Davis. There is also the entire half hour HBO First Look: Making The Matrix. There are also several behind the scenes segments, a 6 minute documentary on Bullet Time, and a 11 minute documentary on the concept of The Matrix. These are all great, but I was a little disappointed in that there wasn't a trailer present on the disc, but there are so many other cool things on the disc that it's not a big deal.

Improve: The trailer should have been present on the disc.(I know that it is if you have a DVD-ROM.

RIYL: Hard Boiled, The Heroic Trio, The Executioners: The Heroic Trio II

Overall Opinion: The Matrix is a great film on an excellent DVD. This disc is well worth the fairly low price. I only paid $14.99 for it. It's packed with extras and really looks and sounds great.
