Power Stone Game by Capcom Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: VMU Released: 9-9-99 Works with: VMU, Jump Pack **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Power Stone was one of those launch games that I planned to buy. It didn't work out, but I finally bought it and here's what I thought of it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: Power Stone is a crazy fighting game. It has simple controls and truthfully some rather simple gameplay. The main gist of the game is to collect all 3 Power Stones which then transforms your character into a super powerful robot type deal. The quest to gather all 3 stones means that that is your main objective. You can use anything in the arena such as guns, chairs, tables, barrels, and anything else that you can get your hands on, but the main quest is to get the 3 stones. The fighting itself is fun and very fast. This game is a lot of fun to play, but the fighting system is rather simple. There are also lots of hidden things to unlock, which extends the game's value. Liked: Fun, kickass fighting. Hated: Ultimately it's maybe a little too simple. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Power Stone looks excellent. The characters are nicely detailed and look very different than most other video game characters. The backgrounds are very cool looking. The game moves fast and smooth. Liked: Great graphics. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: PS has some pretty cool music. It sounds kinda like your usual videogame music. The sound fx are great. The voices are in Japanese. This is okay, but I wish that there were an option for English or Japanese voices. Liked: Cool music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: PS has some pretty simple controls which fit this game very well. The game design is good, but this game needs more characters and modes of play. Liked: Good controls. Hated: Not quite enough stuff to do. **************************************************************************** Improve: More modes of play and more characters. RIYL: Soul Calibur, I guess. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Power Stone is a really cool game that does have a few problems. It's good fun while it lasts, but it is over a little too quickly. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 21 out of 25 Final Score: 84 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
