Blue Stinger Game by Activision/Climax Graphics Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Save: VMU-4 blocks Released: 9-9-99 Works with: VMU, Jump Pack **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This was one of those Dreamcast games that I was drooling over. It just looked too good to be true. Is it? **************************************************************************** Gameplay Description: Blue Stinger is an awesome game. It fits into the Survival Horror genre that Alone In The Dark & Resident Evil created. In BS you play as Elliot Ballade & Dogs Bower and you need to set things right. The world is screwed up because an asteroid crash-landed and created a bubble around Dinosaur Island. Elliot meets up with Dogs and really doesn't know what happened. They soon meet up with Janeane and she helps them out. The game plays a lot like Resident Evil, but it's much better. The game controls and just simply plays better than RE ever did. You still need to collect key cards and solve puzzles, but this game has a lot of ass kicking. Zombies come from left & right and you have to teach them that humans rule! There are some awesome bosses and the regular garden variety zombies are awesome looking. This game has some of the coolest areas ever seen in a game. The store is awesome. There is Christmas music playing in the background and there are zombies everywhere. Anyways, this is the best survival horror game ever! Liked: Awesome gameplay. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Blue Stinger is one of the best looking games ever! It is amazing. Elliot & his compadres look almost photo-reallistic. Okay, they are some of the best polygon models ever. The zombies & the bosses are amazing looking. The bosses are huge and this game moves very fast. The backgrounds are excellent, as well. I really like all of the Christmas stuff in the game. It makes it extra creepy. The only problem with the graphics is that the characters' lips don't move correctly with their voices. Sometimes their voices start and end before their lips begin moving. Liked: Awesome graphics. Hated: Poor lip synching.(This is not a big deal) **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Blue Stinger has one of the coolest scores of any game ever. Most of the music sounds like the score of Die Hard. The Christmas song is awesome and just adds to the creepiness of this game. The sound fx are good. The voice acting is kinda crappy, but the writing is good. Be warned though, Dogs talks like a sailor, which I actually believe he is. It's no worse than PG-13 language. Liked: Awesome music and great writing. Hated: Poor voice acting. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: This game controls nicely. I really like that each character can ready 2 weapons-1 short range and 1 long. The controls are easy to figure out and they just feel right. The analog stick works nicely for movement. The game design is good and I really like that if you mess up certain objectives, the game doesn't end it just changes slightly. BTW, there are some awesome surpises that you will really enjoy during the game. Liked: Perfect controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: 2 Player Simulataneous and maybe some Internet options. RIYL: Bon't bother with any other Survival Horror games. This is the only one you need. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Blue Stinger is an awesome game that every Dreamcast owner should own. This is one seriously fun game that has a ton of surprises that will make you wonder just what exactly is gonna happen next. This is a great game! **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 25 out of 25 Final Score: 100 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
