Opening Remarks: I received this disc as a gift for Christmas in
1998. I thought that the DVD itself was good, but I really didn't
care much for the movie. Well, it's a year later, did I change my
mind?

Movie Quality: This movie is strange in that it doesn't really
fit in an established genre. It has action, horror & gore,
comedy, romance, and drama. It is a strange mix that makes a
strange film. The movie has some of the best CG fx ever made. The
bugs are awesome! As I said earlier, this film has a lot of blood
and gore which just adds to the over the top action. The drama
and romance add another layer, as well. Anyways, this film is
about a group of friends that join the military to fight the
alien bug menace. That's basically the whole plot. It's a strange
movie, so avoid it if you want to see a straight up action film,
although there is lots of action. If you're in the mood for
something different, then this is the medicine for you.

Video Quality: This disc looks great. The film is preseented in
it's original 1.85:1 Widescreen splendor. The colors are bright
and the whole package just looks good.

Sound Quality: This disc sounds great. The surround fx are really
good. It's just as good as every other DVD.

Commentary by Paul Verhoeven, 5 deleted scenes, Making Of

Improve: If they ever make a sequel, maybe it should be a little
more normal.

Overall Opinion: This is a great disc with a pretty cool movie. I
didn't care much for this film the first time that I watched it,
but I really dug it after the second viewing. There are some very
cool extras and this disc has a very reasonable price(Should be
$20).
